IN THE NEWS Hammer Flat / The Cliffs -Naturally Idaho It is not news, exactly, but it is still pretty interesting. Hear the Ada County Commissioner discuss restrictions on access to public information and complain about public records requests being a "Tool of Intimidation.". Click this link and fasten your seat belt. It is not pretty. After nearly a year, perhaps longer, of closed door, no minutes, meetings with Ada County Development Services, the developers have finally gone public with their proposal for the development of Hammer Flat, east of Boise. They are calling it, The Cliffs - Naturally Idaho. To view their media kit, click this link. To see a copy of The Idaho Statesman's Story on the subject, click here. Also, click the following link to see a copy of the 12/10/05 Idaho Statesman Editorial on the viability of developing Hammer Flat.
Boise City Extension of Area of Impact At the same time that the developer is moving to apply to Ada County for permission to develop Hammer Flat, Boise City is moving to extend their area of impact over the same area. When complete, the developer will fall under the auspices of Boise City's permitting process. The distinction between the two is that, Boise City actively enforces the Foothills Open Space Management Plan while Ada County seems to prefer to ignore the plan.
