Save the Plateau's mission is to promote and coordinate activities designed to maintain and preserve the area known as Hammer Flats as a viable habitat for deer, elk, eagles, and the variety of other species that inhabit The Plateau in such abundance.
Also, and of equal importance, Save the Plateau is dedicated to achieving this objective in such a manner that no stake holder is harmed. This involves finding a mechanism, or combination of mechanisms, to provide the developer with funds and / or substitute lands sufficient to leave him and his associates fully compensated, plus a reasonable rate of return, for their investments and activities associated with developing The Plateau. This also involves finding a mechanism to include the undeveloped parcels in the adjoining "illegal" subdivision to the east in the final solution in such a way that the owners of these undeveloped parcels are compensated for their properties at rates that would be considered fair for parcels upon which structures could be legally erected. In short, it is Save the Plateau's mission to present a "win - win" solution that achieves the desired goal while simultaneously leaving all involved parties in a better position than currently exists. (Note: The foregoing mission statement is posted exactly as it appeared in 2005. Since then, the developer's plan collapsed financially and Boise City bought the property using Foothills Levy funds.) |
