Take Action to Save The Plateau

Mule Deer on Ridge Adjoining Hammer Flats, Boise, Idaho.

Ada County

As it currently stands, the Ada County Commissioners have the final decision making authority over real estate development activities on Hammer Flats. Ada County Development Services is the agency that deals most extensively with developers and makes recommendations to the Commissioners regarding the outcome of developer's applications.

Please write to the Commissioners and the Development Services Director at the addresses listed below and ask them to support efforts to preserve Hammers Flats as viable deer and elk winter range. In addition, please ask these officials to help deflect developer's activities to other areas of the county that will have a lower impact on Boise, the County, and the environment.

If you have never written to a government official before, or otherwise need some suggestions on what to say and how to say it, click this link to be directed to a sample letter dealing with this subject.

Boise City

Both Mayor Bieter and his Republican predecessor, Mayor Coles, have been far sighted about the impacts of leap frog development and continued degradation of the Boise foot hills. Mayor Bieter has also taken a public stand against the proposed development of Hammer Flats. Click this link to view a copy of the Mayor's letter to the Ada County Commissioners.

Please write to the Mayor and the various city council members at the addresses listed below and let them know you support their efforts to preserve Hammers Flats as viable deer and elk winter range. Fish and Game has the unenviable task of providing unlimited, high quality, hunting and fishing opportunities in the State of Idaho without impinging on the activities of farmers, ranchers, businesses and developers that are often detrimental to wildlife.

Please write to the Idaho Fish and Game officials listed below and ask them to support efforts to preserve Hammers Flats as viable deer and elk winter range.
